As of today, Slovakia is joining the list of European countries which have adopted the European currency.
Slovakia is saying goodbye to the Slovakian Koruna (SKK) at a rate of 30.1260 SKK/EUR.
On New Year’s day, 328.6 million people out of the total population of 499.7 in Europe will share the Euro.
It is definitely an exiting time as more and more countries are joining the Euro and enjoying the economical benefits a single European currency has to offer.
These are the countries currently using the Euro
Andorra
Austria
Belgium
Cyprus
Finland
France
Germany
Greece
Ireland
Italy
Kosovo
Luxembourg
Malta
Monaco
Montenegro
Netherlands
Portugal
San Marino
Slovenia
Spain
Slovakia
Coming soon:
Lithuania will join the Eurozone on January 1, 2010.
Estonia is expected to convert to the Euro on January 1, 2011.
So far – the United Kingdom, Denmark, and Sweden have decided not to convert to the euro.
I think that many Forex traders are not anxious to see the day these countries will give up their own currency in favor of the Euro.
